Stockholm-listed telco Millicom International Cellular has announced that CEO Mikael Grahne is stepping down at the end of October after almost four years in the role.
Grahne will be replaced by Hans-Holger Albrecht, who as well as being a Millicom board member is also currently CEO of Swedish broadcaster Modern Times Group (MTG).
Millicom, which is primarily focused on the Latin American and African markets, did not disclose a reason for the management change.
Allen Sangines-Krause, Millicom’s chairman, said: “Hans-Holger is the perfect choice to take on the CEO role at Millicom as we build on our success to date. Not only does Hans-Holger have the proven international management expertise and track record to take Millicom into the next phase of its development, but the business cultures of MTG and Millicom are very similar.”
Grahne, who has been with Millicom for a total 11 years, said he was confident Milicom would “continue successfully into the future under Hans-Holger’s leadership”.
