Mexican cable TV operator Megacable, which owns the satellite TV channel VideoRola, has agreed to acquire fellow Mexican cable firm Grupo Omnicable. Financial details have not been disclosed, although local reports claim the acquisition carries a price tag of between US$56m and US$62m.
Grupo Omnicable is based in the northwestern region of Mexico and the acquisition of the company will give Megacable an additional 62,000 TV subscribers and 3,00 internet customers. The cableco is active across 15 towns and cities in the area in the Sonora state and three in Baja California.
Megacable is the largest cable operator on the Mexican market and is based in Guadalajara, from where it also operates the satellite channel VideoRola and cable station Canal 6.
