Polish telco Mediatel has appointed the CEO of Hawe as its chairman after the local holding company increased its stake in the operator to 99.8% in early November.
Piotr Kubaszewski is now heading Mediatel’s board and takes the place of Marcin Kubit, who had been chairman since Krzysztof Witon left the position in September.
Kubit will remain at Mediatel as vice-president of the management board.
Hawe reached 99.8% ownership following a tender offer launched in September to buy all of the telco’s remaining shares.
Last December, Hawe announced that it would consolidate another of its subsidiary, Hawke Telekom, within Warsaw-listed Mediatel.
As part of the merger process, Mediatel issued about 1.05 billion new shares to Hawe, enabling it to boost its stake from 65.97% to 98.64%. As required under Polish takeover law, Hawe launched a tender offer for the remaining shares.
Mediatel offers integrated telecoms services, including remote and fixed-access services, voice communications and internet-related IT services.
