British telecoms regulator Ofcom has appointed Philip Marnick, CTO of local wireless solutions firm UK Broadband, as group director of spectrum.
Marnick will join in November to lead Ofcom’s spectrum policy group, which sets and implements the country’s strategy for managing spectrum, including clearing, awarding and licensing it.
He will replace Hyacinth Nwana, who left Ofcom in April to seek fresh challenges in the private sector.
Prior to his UK Broadband role, Marnick had held senior positions at O2, BT, Orange, and Japan’s J-Phone, which is now Softbank Mobile.
