Michael Hecker is leaving his role as vice president for strategy, M&A and corporate development at Russia’s largest wireless operator, Mobile TeleSystems (MTS).
He is set to join MTS’ majority shareholder, diversified conglomerate Sistema, as vice president and head of strategy on 1 February.
MTS said it was yet to appoint a replacement and that his successor would be announced in due time.
It remained unclear whether the replacement will be internal or external, although both options are thought to be open.
Hecker, who will leave his post at MTS on Thursday at the operator’s next board meeting, has been at MTS since 2006.
Before that he was a consultant at A.T. Kearney Europe, where he focused on strategy, marketing and finance in telecoms and consumer goods industries.
