US telco and ISP Level 3 Communications has appointed its COO Jeff Storey as CEO, replacing the company’s long-time leader James Crowe, effective immediately.
Storey will also be nominated for election to the board of directors at the company’s AGM on 23 May 2013, where he will take Crowe’s seat.
Storey joined the operator in 2008 as COO. He previously worked for Leucadia Telecommunications Group, WilTel Communications, Cox Communications and Southwestern Bell Telephone.
When Crowe announced his departure in March, after 15 years at the helm, he said: “Given the company’s financial and operational strength, we have concluded that it is an appropriate time to begin the transition to new leadership with new perspectives.”
