L-3 Communications has snapped up secure satellite communications provider 3Di Technologies for an undisclosed amount.
3Di, which will become part of the Microwave Group within L-3’s Electronic Systems segment, specialises in end-to-end secure satcoms services that are used by the US Department of Defense. The company expects to generate 2010 revenues of approximately US$40m.
For L-3, the purchase will help bolster its military communications offering to the US government. John Mega, president of L-3’s Microwave Group, commented: “3Di will enhance L-3’s overall position as a communication solutions provider. 3Di is a leading innovator in secure satellite communications and we look forward to expanding L-3’s presence in this emerging, high-growth market.”
