The Kyrgyz government has sold 78% of incumbent Kyrgyztelecom for US$40m, according to local press reports quoting Tursun Turdumambetov, head of the Kyrgyz government property ministry.
Investment Company of Kazakhstan, local firm Ala-Too Keni Company and Cyprus-based Nimisco Holdings and Colimar Holdings have reportedly also committed to invest US$200m in the fixed-line operator.
Kyrgyztelecom, which provides fixed-line, mobile, internet and CDMA 450 fixed wireless services, fully owns GSM operator KT Mobile.
Other shareholders are the social fund (12.51%) and a combination of private individuals and private legal entities (9.65%).
