Dutch incumbent KPN has launched its pre-paid MVNO Ortel Mobile in Switzerland.
Ortel targets consumers in multi-cultural communities who make international calls. It is already present in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France and Spain.
“With the introduction of our very attractive offer for international, national and even free calls from Ortel to Ortel, we now want to become the preferred operator in the multicultural segment in Switzerland as well,” said Christoph Urech, country manager for Ortel in Switzerland.
News of the Swiss launch comes as separate reports suggest 40 Movil, KPN’s MVNO in Spain, plans to cease operations on 3 November.
KPN did not respond to requests for comment.
