Dutch incumbent KPN has submitted its request to acquire local cableco Caiway for regulatory approval, antitrust regulator NMa announced on 4 October.
Interested parties have been given seven days to comment on the proposed deal, which KPN first announced in May for an undisclosed sum.
On 8 August, NMa said it will look into the transaction in an in-depth phase II investigation because it has identified areas of concern.
According to a spokesperson, its main concerns arise in the Western regions of the Netherlands, where Caiway and KPN’s operations overlap.
A spokesperson for KPN declined to disclose the value of the transaction, but the company has previously told TelecomFinance that it is being paid for through existing resources.
Caiway, the fourth largest cableco in the Netherlands, is owned by Dutch real estate firm Rabo Bouwfonds’ Communication Infrastructure Fund (CIF) and Caiway’s management.
