UK cableco Virgin Media has appointed Peter Kelly, head of enterprise at local mobile operator Vodafone, to lead its B2B division.
Kelly will become managing director of Virgin Media Business from 16 September, and will also join the group executive committee.
He will replace Tony Grace, who is returning to his previous position as chief operating officer of the business division.
Virgin Media CEO Tom Mockridge said: “Despite the economic challenges currently facing our public sector and private enterprise customers, the business-to-business market offers big long term opportunities for us. Peter is the right person to have on board to accelerate Virgin Media Business’s growth and challenge the incumbents in this market.”
The company’s main rival in this market is fixed line telco BT, which recently launched a sport broadcasting service as part of a push into pay-TV.
Vodafone Ireland CEO Jeroen Hoencamp replaced Kelly at the mobile operator.
