Vodafone’s German unit has appointed Andreas Siemen, CFO of newly-acquired cableco KDG, as its new managing director for finance.
Siemen will carry out the roles simultaneously from 1 July, pending approvals from the supervisory boards, according to company statements.
At Vodafone Deutschland, he replaces Thomas Nowak, who has decided to leave the company.
Siemen joined the KDG management team in 2003 and has been CFO and a board member since 2011. He previously worked for consulting firm McKinsey & Co, advising telecoms providers.
Vodafone Deutschland CEO Jens Schulte-Bockum said Siemen’s appointment will bring the management of the mobile and cable arms of the business closer together, enabling them to pool their skills.
UK-based Vodafone acquired KDG last year in a deal that combined Germany’s second-largest mobile operator and largest cableco. Late last month, Vodafone named former KDG executive Christoph Clement as the new director of legal and regulatory affairs of the combined company.
