Kazakhstan’s Kcell, a unit of Swedish telco TeliaSonera, has appointed Trond Moe as its new finance director, subject to relevant regulatory approvals.
Moe, who previously served as CFO of Mode Group in London, replaces Baurzhan Ayazbaev, who resigned last October.
Gary Mitchell Krasny has served as acting finance director in the interim.
This marks the second key appointment for Kazakhstan’s largest mobile operator since December, when Arti Ots joined as CEO.
Between 2011 and 2013, Moe was a partner at Eastern European Group (Ukraine), advising foreign investors on strategic risk in the region.
From 2000 to 2006, he was a country manager for Norwegian telco Telenor’s Ukrainian unit, responsible for the company’s investments in the country, including mobile operator Kyivstar.
In the years prior, Moe held senior telecoms roles in regions including Eastern Europe and Asia.
Commenting on Moe’s appointment, Kcell chairman Jan Erik Rudberg noted that the company is now fully focused on executing its growth strategy and creating shareholder value.
