German cable operator Kabel Deutschland is looking to acquire approximately 70,000 TV cable networks from local rival PrimaCom.
A Kabel spokesman declined to disclose the value of the deal, but a source close to the company told TelecomFinance it will pay approximately E150 per household.
The deal will see Kabel acquire around 30,000 cable customers in and around Mainz and about 40,000 in Osnabruck.
“The acquisition of the cable networks in Mainz and Osnabrueck closes a gap in our footprint,” said the Kabel spokesman.
“The 70,000 households will soon be able to order fast internet and telephony via cable as well as attractive TV products such as a digital HD video recorders or Video-on-Demand.”
A transaction is still subject to approval by Germany’s Federal Cartel Office.
