Newcomer Reliance Jio has signed yet another tower sharing agreement, this time with independent towerco Tower Vision India.
Over the past year, the operator has agreed numerous tower partnerships, the most recent one being with BSNL, as it aims to launch 4G and TV services by the end of 2014.
It previously inked contracts with Reliance Communications (RCom), Viom Networks, Bharti Infratel and its parent Bharti Airtel, and American Tower’s local unit ATC India.
Under the latest agreement, Jio will gain access to Tower Vision’s portfolio of 8,400 sites across India. The financial details have not been disclosed.
Reliance Jio bid aggressively in this year’s hotly-contested spectrum auction, agreeing to pay US$1.7bn to secure 1,800 MHz frequencies. The company already holds spectrum in the 2,300 MHz band.
