Broadcom snaps up Brocade in US$5.9bn deal to expand data storage business

US semiconductor developer Broadcom has agreed to purchase network equipment maker Brocade Communications Systems for US$5.9bn, including US$400m of debt, in the latest consolidation move in the chip and connectivity sectors. Commenting on the acquisition, Broadcom CEO Hock Tan said: “This strategic acquisition enhances Broadcom’s position as one of the leading providers of enterprise storage connectivity solutions to OEM customers.” US […]
