Telecom operator Indosat may spin off StarOne, its CDMA unit, in order to make the group more competitive, according to a report in the Jakarta Post.
SingTel’s CEO Harry Sasongko was quoted saying that Indosat is currently conducting an internal assessment to gain momentum in Indonesia. But the decrease in StarOne’s subscribers has impacted Indosat’s growth, according to the newspaper.
Indosat’s net income fell 63% to Rp531bn (US$59m) for the first nine months of 2010, compared with the same period a year ago.
