US video technology provider Imagine Communications is buying the assets of local multiscreen broadcast delivery firm RGB Networks for an undisclosed sum.
The deal will see Imagine acquire most of RGB’s staff as it integrates the group’s cloud-based video delivery solutions into its advertising management and broadcast infrastructure portfolio.
“Our customers require video solutions that enable content to be delivered anywhere, anytime, and on any device,” said Imagine CEO Charlie Vogt.
“The acquisition of RGB Networks, combined with our innovation in video playout and distribution, enables us to strategically navigate the convergence of IP, mobility, and the Internet, which has changed the way we consume entertainment and information.”
Imagine was created last year when private equity firm Gores spun it out from Harris Broadcast, which it bought in 2013 from Harris Corporation in a US$225m deal.
It has since made four add-on acquisitions to bolster the company’s range of products and presence in the multichannel video programming distributor market.
The latest was in October 2014, when Imagine acquired advertising solutions assets from Swiss conditional access firm Kudelski. Financial terms for that deal were also undisclosed.
