Spanish broadband operator Iberbanda is to launch a WiMax network in the rural northwest corner of the country.
This, Spain’s first WiMAX 802.16e network, was deployed by Chinese vendor ZTE.
Covering the regions of Galicia and Asturias, the network will provide high-speed broadband access services.
Last year, Iberbanda contracted ZTE to supply 500 WiMAX base stations for two years to provide high-speed broadband services to the rural parts of Spain.
ZTE says that it has rolled out 59 WiMAX networks in 41 countries including the USA, Japan and Europe.
