Hungary plans to auction mobile frequencies as soon as the third quarter, Dow Jones reports quoting minister of national development Tamas Fellegi.
Fellegi reportedly said that additional frequencies in the 900MHz band would be auctioned after the parliament approved the necessary regulations, which should be ready by the end of the first half of the year.
He reportedly added that the market itself would decide whether there was room for a fourth player on the Hungarian mobile market.
Currently, Hungary has three mobile operators: Deutsche Telekom-owned Magyar Telekom, Vodafone Hungary and Telenor Hungary.
The ministry did not respond to a request for comment before press time.
