Chinese vendor Huawei has appointed Ming He as general manager of its US business in what is a newly-created role.
From Huawei’s local Texas base He will oversee the operations and strategy of its carrier network and enterprise business unit in the country.
He, who joined Huawei in 1997, Â was previously in sole charge of the US carrier network.
The growth of Huawei’s business in the US has been limited due to national security concerns. Fears have been voiced about placing strategic infrastructure in the hands of a Chinese company. Huawei has repeatedly said it is independent from the Chinese government and denied allegations about its intentions.
