Taiwan-based Smartphone maker HTC said it would buy US mobile internet applications company Dashwire for as much as US$18.5m.
Privately-held Dashwire says on its website that is backed by investors who built the wireless and technology industries at McCaw Cellular, Western Wireless, Voicestream, Nextel, China Unicom, and Microsoft; and by Best Buy Capital, the strategic investment arm of the largest consumer retailer, Best Buy.
In a statement, HTC explained that the acquisition is aimed at expanding its mobile cloud services.
