Smartphone maker HTC is looking to buy an 11.1% stake in local online music store Kkbox for US$10m, according to the Taipei Times.
The newspaper wrote that Kkbox is looking to enter Asian markets, Japan in particular, while HTC is seeking to expand its mobile applications to better compete with other smartphone makers.
Back in December, Japanese mobile operator KDDI bought a 76% stake in Kkbox from parent company Skysoft.
