The launch of mobile operator GreenNet Sierra Leone, a subsidiary of Libyan state-owned investment company LAP Green Network, has been put on hold due to the unrest in the North African country, according to media reports.
The company had initially planned to launch GSM operations in April. There are currently four mobile operators in Sierra Leone: Lintel (Africell brand), Comium SL, Airtel Sierra Leone and Sierratel. Intergroup Telecom also holds a GSM, 3G and WiMAX concession but has not yet launched operations.
LAP Green Network is present in Chad, Ivory Coast, Niger, Rwanda, Southern Sudan, Uganda and Zambia.
