Bankrupt vendor Nortel Networks announced on 5 April that Google had entered into a US$900m stalking horse agreement for its patent portfolio.
In a statement, Nortel said that the agreement follows a multiround bidding process involving several interested companies.
The portfolio includes 6,000 patents and patent applications covering wireless, data networking, semiconductors, and other digital communications services.
The final auction for the patents is due in June 2011.
