Google has named Dennis Woodside as CEO of Motorola Mobility after it finally completed its purchase of the handset maker for US$12.5bn.
Woodside, who worked closely on the acquistion, replaces Sanjay Jha, who will continue to work with Google to ensure a smooth transition. Woodside was previously president of Google’s Americas region.
Google’s completion of the transaction comes only days after the internet giant received the last outstanding regulatory approval for the deal, from Chinese antitrust authorities.
Chinese authorities ruled that Google can acquire the group if it keeps its Android operating system free for other device makers for at least five years.
