Georgia’s Mobitel, operating under the Beeline brand name, has promoted former CFO Georgi Tkeshelashvili to the position of CEO.
Tkeshelashvili replaces Sergei Zakuraev, who will head up Beeline’s Armenian mobile unit, parent company VimpelCom announced.
Born in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi, Tkeshelashvili has a law and economics degrees from Lomonosov Moscow State University. Beginning his career as financial director at Video International Georgia, he started as CFO for Mobitel in 2006.
Commenting on the new appointment, VimpelCom CIS business unit head Dmitry Kromsky said Tkeshelashvili has helped Mobitel to deliver strong financial results in challenging market conditions.
“I am confident that Georgi, during the new phase of his career, can bring even greater contribution into the business’ development,” he said.
