Satcoms provider Global Eagle Entertainment has wrapped up a US$585m refinancing package to clean up its balance sheet following last year’s transformational acquisition of maritime-focused EMC. Some of the proceeds are also being used to beef up GEE’s transponder-count with the Californian firm buying all 24 Ku-band beams on the aging AMC-3 satellite operated by SES and renaming the bird ‘Eagle 1’.
