France Telecom could buy a minority stake in Polish satellite television broadcaster TVN if the price is reasonable, the French group’s CEO Stephane Richard was quoted saying.
According to Reuters citing local media Rzeczpospolita, Richard said that France Telecom sought strong ties with media but would only be interested in joining a partner as a minority shareholder.
TelecomFinance sister publication Satellite Finance reported earlier this month that Polish media conglomerate ITI Group was considering selling its majority 56.21% stake in satellite television broadcaster TVN.
ITI has hired JP Morgan and Nomura to help review its strategic options.
Time Warner, Bertelsmann, Fox Broadcasting Company, Vivendi and Discovery Communications have reportedly been approached as potential investors.
TVN owns ten TV channels as well as digital pay-TV platform ‘n’. It reportedly has a market capitalisation of US$2bn.
