The Czech Telecommunication Office (CTU) has approved all four bids to participate in its planned 4G spectrum auction – three from established mobile operators and one from a potential new market entrant.
Telefonica Czech Republic, Vodafone Czech Republic, Deutsche Telekom-owned T-Mobile Czech Republic and possible new entrant, local financial firm PPF’s mobile services unit, will all be allowed to take part in the in the auction of 800MHz, 1800MHz and 2600MHz frequencies, CTU confirmed today.
The auction is set to take place by the end of the year.
PPF describes itself as one of the largest investment and finance groups in Central and Eastern Europe with about €12bn of assets under management.
Last month, CTU said the government expects to raise “billions” of Czech koruna from the auction and additional funds from future annual fees.
