Lebara, the UK headquartered MVNO, has unveiled David Moffatt as its new CEO effective today.
His predecessor, Yoganathan Ratheesan, who co-founded the company in 2001, has moved on to the position of chairman.
“David Moffatt has a wealth of telecoms and financial services experience. He has the entrepreneurial spirit and drive it will take to lead Lebara to achieve our ambitious growth objectives,” said Ratheesan.
Moffatt previously spent nine years at Telstra, Australia’s largest telco, first as CFO and group managing director of finance and administration, and subsequently as group MD of its consumer unit.
Following an unsuccessful attempt to find a buyer last year, the London-based MVNO publicly ruled out plans to sell the group in May. A company spokesperson confirmed in May RBS was no longer advising Lebara, which had been hired last year to explore strategic options.
