Five candidates have submitted applications to take part in the 4G auction in Belgium, the Belgian Institute for Postal Services and Telecommunications (BIPT) said.
“The names of the candidates will be disclosed after they have been qualified for the auction”, BIPT spokesman Dirk Appelmans said.
If at least four candidates are admissible, six frequency blocks in the 2500-2570 MHz and 2620-2690 MHz band (FDD spectrum) will be auctioned. Should there be less than four candidates, only five blocks will be offered.
A 2575-2620 MHz (TDD spectrum) block will also be put up for sale.
The auction will start on 28 November and the 2.6 GHz licences are valid for 15 years starting from 1 July 2012.
