Cable giant Liberty Global (NASDAQ:LBTYA) has named Eric Tveter as the CEO of its newly-created Central Europe (CE) Group, which combines its Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), Austrian and Swiss operations.
Cable giant Liberty Global (NASDAQ:LBTYA) has named Eric Tveter as the CEO of its newly-created Central Europe (CE) Group, which combines its Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), Austrian and Swiss operations.
Tveter will also continue his current role as CEO of UPC Austria and upc cablecom in Switzerland, the Swiss unit said in a statement. He will be based in Zurich.
Tveter has headed the Austrian and Swiss businesses since August 2014. Since 1 July this year, he has also led the CEE group. The American citizen first joined upc cablecom as managing director in 2009. Previously, he held senior executive roles in the US, UK and European cable sectors, including president of UK cableco Telewest Global and leadership positions with Time Warner Cable, Comcast and Metromedia International.
Tveter holds an MBA from Rutgers University and a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Accounting from Long Island University.
Ivan Nash Vila to take on CFO role
Ivan Nash Vila will become CFO of the new CE group and will also retain his current role, as CFO of the Austrian and Swiss businesses. Nash has been with Liberty Global since 2003. He has been CFO of upc cablecom since 2011 and, of UPC Austria, since 2014. Previously, he worked for companies in the Swiss telecoms and IT sectors. He is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin and holds an MBA from the London Business School.
Liberty’s existing Central and Eastern Europe Group includes its cable operations in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia as well as its Luxembourg-based UPC DTH satellite television services.
The former managing director of the CEE group, Betzalel Kenigsztein, became president and CEO of Liberty’s Latin American and Caribbean unit.
