FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski has reportedly circulated an order to allow with conditions AT&T’s US$1.925bn acquisition of spectrum from wireless technology manufacturer Qualcomm.
Reuters reported that Genachowski circulated the order on Tuesday, referring to an unnamed FCC official.
Qualcomm and the FCC were not immediately available to comment. AT&T was not able to comment before the press deadline.
The companies announced the agreement for AT&T to acquire spectrum licences in the lower 700MHz frequency band from Qualcomm in December 2010.
The spectrum involved covers more than 300m people in the US.
Qualcomm had been using the licences to support its mobile TV subsidiary, FLO TV. This reportedly closed in March 2011.
