Swiss incumbent Swisscom will on Friday announce a partnership with a local utility firm to help the operator roll out fibre to households across the country, TelecomFinance understands.
Swisscom was unable to comment on future events, but a spokesman confirmed the group has already signed several letters of intent for fibre deployment with “the utilities of Basel, Zurich, Berne [and] Fribourg”.
In October, Swisscom announced partnerships utilities Geneva Industrial Services and St. Gallen Public Utilities for the construction of fibre networks in Geneva and St. Gallen, respectively.
