Ukrainian incumbent Ukrtelecom has recruited Alexander Barinov to serve as its new chairman, replacing Lasha Mikava.
Barinov joins from rival mobile operator Life, where he was CEO for the last three years. He has been replaced on an interim basis by CFO Erdal Yayla.
Prior to that, Barinov was VP for sales at Russia-focused operator VimpelCom.
Outgoing chairman Mikava will serve as telecoms adviser to Ukrtelecom’s parent, System Capital Management (SCM).
Ukrtelecom provides fixed-line, internet and mobile services under the Trimob brand.
Bond issue
Separately, Ukrtelecom has raised financing via a bond issue to modernise and expand its network infrastructure.
The size of the financing has not been revealed but local reports suggest it amounts to Hr1.4bn (US$166m).
