French vendor Alcatel-Lucent has appointed Jean Raby as its new chief financial and legal officer, effective from the 1 September.
Raby was previously a partner of Goldman Sachs’ investment banking division and left the bank at the end of last year. Prior to that the Canadian was an associate attorney at Sullivan & Cromwell.
At Goldman he offered strategic and corporate finance advice across different industry sectors, including telecoms and ICT.
In a statement Alcatel’s CEO Michel Combes said: “[Jean’s] extensive knowledge of the industry and his deep understanding of global financial markets in the widest sense will be of great value as we drive ahead with the implementation of the shift plan announced in June and in particular our objectives to reach €1bn of selective asset sales, €2bn of debt refinancing and €2bn of debt reduction before the end of 2015.”
The shift plan aims at repositioning the loss-making company from a telecoms equipment generalist to an industrial specialist in IP networking and ultra-broadband access.
