Private equity firm Doughty Hanson has bought a majority stake in Dutch fibre network operator Eurofiber.
The previous owners, the Wessels family, will keep a significant minority stake in Eurofiber via its Reggeborgh investment vehicle, Doughty Hanson said in a press release.
Details of the transaction, which is subject to regulatory approvals, were not disclosed.
According to the new owners, Eurofiber owns the second largest independent fibre network in the Netherlands, transporting “more than 25% of Dutch internet traffic and 50% of Dutch mobile traffic, waterways and electricity management information” over its network.
The transaction is expected to close in May 2012.
