Rhys Phillip, head of global telecommunications transactions advisory at Ernst & Young, has left the consulting firm.
He joined African towerco IHS as chief commercial officer last week, TelecomFinance was told.
In his capacity at E&Y Phillip also advised IHS on recent transactions.
In 2012, the company bought 1,750 towers from MTN in Cameroon and the Ivory Coast for US$284m. More recently it agreed to operate 2,000 France Telecom Orange towers in the same countries.
Phillip is the second member of Ernst & Young’s telecoms advisory services joining the ranks of IHS in the past months.
At the beginning of the year Steve Howden, another former member of E&Y’s TMT merger & acquisitions team, became M&A and corporate finance director at the towerco.
Ernst & Young has not yet identified a successor for Phillip yet, but TelecomFinance understands that Justin Prichard is the primary contact for telecoms M&A in the meantime.
Ernst & Young did not reply to requests for comment before deadline.
