Swedish vendor Ericsson has completed its acquisition of Norwegian telco Telenor’s M2M platform, Telenor Connexion, for an undisclosed sum.
According to Ericsson, the acquisition adds valuable technology and the expertise of ten employees being transferred as part of the deal to support its push into M2M communications.
Magnus Furustam, VP and head of core and IMS at Ericsson, said: “We are happy to welcome the employees today working with Telenor Connexion’s M2M technology platform.
“They are together with the technology platform important to us as our ambition is to grow the M2M market, offering our customers a solution that they can quickly use on the market for a low initial investment.”
The acquisition, which was first announced on 19 April, sees Telenor Connexion become the first user of Ericsson’s “Device Connection Platform” system, which allows telcos to offer M2M services to business enterprise customers.
Ericsson declined to disclose financial details of the acquisition.
