Swedish telecom vendor Ericsson has appointed Magnus Mandersson to lead its global services division with immediate effect.
Rima Qureshi will replace Mandersson in his role as head of the CDMA mobile unit, which was greatly expanded following Ericsson’s acquisition of Nortel’s CDMA and LTE business. The division now employs some 2,500 people in North America and China.
Both Qureshi and Mandersson will be members of the group management team.
Mandersson joined Ericsson in 2004 after working with operators including as CEO of Tele2 Europe, COO at Millicom and global key account exec at Deutsche Telekom.
In his new role, he will be in charge of leading the services unit, which represented one of Ericsson’s growth areas in 2009, growing by 20% in the first nine months.
Qureshi is based in Canada and joined Ericsson in 1993. She was most recently head of a strategic program for a major North American operator and Ericsson Response.
