Irish telecoms incumbent Eircom has promoted Pat Galvin to its newly-created director of regulation and public affairs role.
Galvin, who joined the company in 1987, was previously director of Eircom’s public policy.
CEO Herb Hribar said: “Pat’s intimate knowledge and understanding of telecommunications, Irish regulation and the wider public policy agenda will significantly assist Eircom to deliver a first class infrastructure with services and products that enable our customers to access high speed broadband throughout Ireland.”
Reports late last year suggested Eircom had already begun to review options to refinance €2.4bn in debt that matures in 2017.
The refinancing would follow an exit last June from its examinership restructuring process, which slashed 40% in debt and transferred the company’s equity to senior lenders.
