The European Commission (EC) has pushed back the deadline for a decision on the proposed takeover of Orange Austria by Hutchison to 27 November.
The EC did not give reasons for the extension but referred to a subparagraph of the EU merger regulation. This paragraph specifies that the phase II can be extended by up to 20 working days if the merging companies agree with that timetable change.
This leaves room for a further extension by up to five working days.
Hutchison MD Canning Fok said just days ago that he expects the EC to come to a conclusion soon. He also noted that the company has offered to allow other operators to run MVNOs on its network in the future.
