The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is considering providing a US$200m loan to incumbent Kazakhtelecom, TelecomFinance has confirmed.
The telco will use the financing to expand its fixed line broadband network coverage and for its planned LTE broadband network rollout, in a project valued at US$800m.
The EBRD said that it will make a decision on the loan on 29 May.
In February, Kazakhtelecom sold its 49% stake in local mobile operator Kcell to Swedish incumbent TeliaSonera for US$1.519bn.
