As widely anticipated, Bruno Duthoit is set to take the helm of Telekomunikacja Polska (Orange Polska) following Maciej Witucki’s resignation.
Orange Polska said its majority shareholder, French telecoms group Orange (formerly France Telecom), will propose Duthoit as its new CEO and management board president.
Witucki, who has led the company since November 2006, intends to step down from the role within the next few months.
Local media reported in early June that the French parent company had decided TPSA needed a change of CEO and that Duthoit was set to be his successor.
Orange will also propose Witucki as the new chairman of TPSA’s supervisory board and Andrzej Kozminski, who has informed the company of his intention to resign as chairman of the board, as vice chairman.
Commenting on his decision, Witucki said: “Because I have already served nearly seven years as the CEO of Orange Polska, the majority shareholder and I have agreed that the successful start of our new strategy is the right time for me to pass the baton on.”
Witucki said he will work with Duthoit over the next few months to ensure a “smooth and well managed transition”.
Orange said Duthoit has 35 years of broad international experience in the telecoms sector. He has held several management positions in the Orange group, including CEO roles in Armenia and Moldova. Orange said he has “good knowledge” of Poland and its telecoms market as he was a TPSA management board member from 2001 to 2006.
