Liberty Global has said Robert Dunn, currently head of its Dutch unit, will become CFO of Virgin Media when it completes its takeover of the UK cableco next month.
Dunn will replace Eamonn O’Hare, who will leave after the US$23.3bn deal to pursue new opportunities.
Baptiest Coopmans, a former member of Dutch incumbent telco KPN, will become the new managing director of Liberty’s UPC Netherlands subsidiary.
The news comes a week after the group announced that former New International CEO Tom Mockridge is set to replace Neil Berkett in the same role at Virgin Media.
Dunn has been at the helm of UPC Netherlands since 2011, and before that he had been MD of UPC Ireland from 2006.
Mike Fries, Liberty’s CEO, said: “Robert is the ideal choice for the CFO position given his deep understanding of our business following important leadership roles in the Netherlands and Ireland over the last 13 years, which make him uniquely qualified to help steer Virgin Media during its next phase of growth.”
Virgin Media recently confirmed plans to delist from the London Stock Exchange on 10 June, a day after it expects to complete its merger with Liberty. The deal will see John Malone’s Liberty, now the largest cableco in Europe, shift its official domicile from Delaware in the US to the UK.
