Thai mobile operator Total Access Communications (Dtac) is in discussions to share networks with its rivals in a bid to cut costs.
The Telenor subsidiary has held talks with market leader Advanced Info Service (AIS) and third placed True Corp, Dtac CEO Jon Eddy Abdullah told local reporters.
An agreement is yet to be reached.
Last year True spun-off its network infrastructure into a separate fund, raising US$1.8bn in the process. The fund comprises various infrastructure assets such as towers and its core fibre optic grid. True has kept a minority stake in the fund following the listing.
Dtac CEO Abdullah also said that the telco plans to launch 4G in the next few months, Reuters and Tech In Asia reported. Currently only its smaller rival True offers LTE.
