Deutsche Telekom’s CFO Timotheus Hoettges will take on responsibility for overseeing the group’s US business, according to media reports.
At DT’s headquarters in Germany this is currently part of DT CEO Rene Obermann role.
Deutsche Telekom is in the process of acquiring US carrier MetroPCS – Hoettges will supervise that deal and develop the company’s US arm, according to a report in German business daily Handelsblatt.
The change is pending approval by the supervisory board.
According to Bloomberg, which cited a person familiar with the matter, Obermann is stepping aside so he can focus on boosting sales outside traditional phone services.
Deutsche Telekom said it would not be commenting on the speculation.
