Deutsche Telekom and France Telecom-Orange have received the anti-trust approval to set up a procurement joint venture.
The 50/50 joint venture, named BUYIN, will start business operations on 17 October. Based in Brussels, the unit is headed by Volker Pyrtek, previously chief procurement officer at Deutsche Telekom.
The unit will deal with procurement activities in terminal devices, mobile communications networks, and in significant portions of the companies’ fixed-network equipment and service platforms. Pilot projects will also be launched to explore possibilities to expand cooperation to IT infrastructure.
The plan for the joint venture was announced in April.
