Japanese mobile operator NTT DoCoMo plans to invest JPY270bn (US$3.3bn) over the next two years to deploy LTE across Japan’s major cities, according to reports.
The company will reportedly spend JPY35bn (US$432.9m) before March 31, 2011, to roll out the technology in the cities of Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya.
The reports add that DoCoMo intends to make LTE commercially available from late 2011, aided by the installation of approximately 1,000 base stations in the country.
DoCoMo was unable to comment before the press deadline.
